From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them few options but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
